Scottie Whigham was born in Hattiesburg, MS in 1974 In 1995 Scottie moved to Memphis, TN to go to Memphis College of Art. Scottie’s major was Illustration and minor was Graphic Design. In 1999 he graduated from college receiving a BFA degree. Scottie started his career as a Graphic Designer at a marketing company in Hendersonville, TN. While working here he also did freelance work on the side for the local screen printers and promotional companies, where he would create t-shirt designs and logos.
Scottie has a Choctaw Indian portrait included in a permanent collection at the Choctaw Archeological Museum in Memphis, TN. He also has created many custom designed shirts and jackets for the FLW Outdoors and Nascar. Some of the names include Tony Stewart, Matt Kenseth, Jeff Gordon, Mike Ianconelli, Rick Clunn & Kevin Vandam. Scottie has also designed a jacket for Hank Williams Jr.
Scottie strives to capture the beauty in nature and wildlife in his art. He aspires to achieve photo-realism in a drawing and has a keen eye for detail. Scottie strives for perfection and will not quit until he is 100% satisfied with his drawing. His inspiration comes from some of his favorite artist which include, Robert Bateman, Rod Lawrence and Terry Isaac. Scottie Works in Acrylics, Watercolor, Color & Graphite Pencil.
